ON-SITE SMOKING CESSATION PROGRAM
Visiting Nurse Association can provide your employees with a convenient and effective on-site smoking cessation program.
VNA and their trained facilitators will provide the American Lung Association’s evidence-based Freedom From Smoking program to worksites throughout St. Louis City and County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County.
Freedom from Smoking is a seven-week, eight-session program designed to assist smokers in their journey to quit smoking. Each session is one hour long. The program uses a positive behavior change approach that shows each participant how to become a nonsmoker by:
- Learning about their smoking habit
- Looking at the people, places and things that trigger their urge to have a cigarette
- Developing a quit plan that will work for them
- Learning how to deal with the symptoms of recovery, weight control, stress management, and resisting the urge to smoke during tough times
The one-hour sessions are held weekly during the time of day that is most convenient to the company, with two one-hour sessions held during quit week (sessions 4 and 5). The group and facilitator will provide the support the participants need to quit smoking and stay quit.
For information on how you can help your employees quit smoking, contact Diane Weber, Project Coordinator, at dweber@vnastl-cmc.com or 314-918-8055 ext 1263.
